Flummoxed

Well, maybe I'm not THAT flummoxed.

Only about one thing.

I tried to upload a new audio play to myspace and it's PENDING and still pending after much of a day or so. I know it says to wait, but the last few things I uploaded only took 5 minutes to get on line. I already deleted it once and uploaded it again - but I get the same thing.

At least our new podcast worked ok at http://texasradio.libsyn.com/
Go there if you want to hear the final part of our first Cliff Proton adventure.

Also, I was a little annoyed that I couldn't put all the audio theater links in my top friends list - so, at the risk of it getting way too crazy I created a new list just for them in the profile area. (see below)

Also we're ready to start choosing the cast of the Whisper this weekend, and we start rehearsals after LaborDay. Two new shows were added in Dallas too. If all goes well, the plan is to put this episode of the Whisper on the air for Halloween.

So much for news and updates - if you see a new Jack Hardcastle on our myspace player - you'll know it worked.

The audio theatre list on myspace looks something like this - but aligned better (it should be fully functional here too)

Streaming Audio on Myspace

Lately I've noticed several other modern audio dramatists on myspace, and I thought - why not us?

Well... why not? Especially since we're not broadcasting weekly shows at the moment.

(We might have some holiday broadcast specials coming up... more on that later)

Right now I'm talking about myspace.

We've currently got the first episode of both the latest Cliff Proton and the latest Colonel Nickels on line here:

http://www.myspace.com/texasradiotheatrecompany

Or just click that big old image in the middle.

More stuff will be uploaded to our libsyn podcasting site as well, so keep your ipods open.

KNTU broadcasts on hold.

I'm sad to say that at this time (first week of August 2006) our weekly broadcasts on KNTU are on hold.

The station is looking to expand it's jazz programming for Sunday - and there's no room in the current schedule for our program. In the next few months, we're hoping that we might have the opportunity to broadcast on a holiday or special event.

If you desire, you can direct any comments to KNTU's general email at: kntu@unt.edu

More news as it comes in.

SYNOPSIS
An action-mystery audio play with a full cast and sound effects. Kedra King, a history professor at Ivy University, uses a remarkable ability to leave her physical body becoming The Whisper: an unseen and powerful threat to criminals and lawbreakers. In this episode she meets the spirit of Herbert Cartwright as he’s undergoing a procedure that would fake and confirm his own death. Normally, the Whisper would attempt to expose him, however due to their unusual meeting, he may now know her true identity. An adventure designed to stimulate your imagination.

As you may know, radio theatre is unique. Although you will not be required to memorize a script, your talents must go far beyond the simple task of a dramatic reading. You will be expected to develop your character so that you have a clear image of how he or she fits into the story we are telling.

If you’re selected, you will be charged with the task of helping us paint an imaginary picture. Using words music and sounds, we must provide an environment into which the listener can enter through the power of imagination. Critical to our success is the use of sound effects. Unlike other forms of theatre, ours demands that actors understand and study the timing needed to blend in with the supporting sound effects.
